Christmas is fast approaching and I am beginning to feel the holiday cheer. Six months ago, my friend and I where given an amazing opportunity to open a cart at UTC in La Jolla. After careful consideration we agreed to the terms and opened up shoppe.
Here we are towards the end of our journey and I am filled with so much joy and gratitude. All thought I can't wait to work from my home studio again and have dinner with my family every night, there are some much that I will miss from my time here:

1. All my new friends that I made at The Walking Company, Gap, Love Tatum and management.
2. People walking in just to touch and reminisce about the time when their children where babies.
3. My friends from Starbucks and the Apple store
4. Getting all the fun deals at the Gap
5. Having my brother visit me for lunch
6. Having the opportunity to join the Little Italy family
7. Seeing babies walking around the mall wearing my little creations and hearing their moms say how many compliments they got for them.

While I do love the opportunities that Monday's can bring, like the weekly I will make it to the gym today, I will plan my meals before I go to the store, I will pack a lunch each day this week, I will not eat cake starting today, I do not love the hussle of Mondays. It is the day that we go back to work after a jam pack weekend full of activities and family time. We usually are low on food and gas...although each week I promise myself to get gas the night before. Here are some snaps of what is left behind from the weekend.

I use to subscribe to Martha Stewart monthly Everyday Food, but this year I opted not to, and to tell you the truth, I ready do miss getting her little book in the mail each month. But after some careful financial planning (and the fact that I can get her recepies for free on her website) I decided not to renew my subscription. I will be making a trip to the market tomorrow and I thought it would be ideal to plan my meals today. Here is what we have so far.

Monday: New Orleans-Style BBQ Shrimp

Tuesday or Wednesday: zucchini Pasta with Ricotta

Thursday: Tangy Chicken with Orzo pilaf

Friday: Roast Chicken with Zucchini, Carrots and Onions

I am so sorry that I have been MIA...get it... Believe it or not, I have not been near my computer in a week or so due to my Ipad that I got for my 29th Birthday back in January. I was on the phone with a company in Illinois (my third favorite State, after California and Wisconsin) and she requested some pictures of our blankets so I had to come on back to the old laptop. It has been raining here in Sunny California for the past few days and last night i was driving home in the storm and I began to get worried about the weather for the Rancho Sante Fe Farmer's Market on Sunday. Well, it is true what they say, no need to worry, because when I woke up and went to the Market, it was a beautiful sunny day and everyone from the Ranch came out to support the local farmers and artisans.

In other news, the Farmer's Market dresses were ready just in time to make their debut at the Market today. They were so well received and we even got special orders!

It was a great day at the Market today. I am so lucky to be able to spend time with my friends each week. At the begining of the year, Raquel (the wonderful girl who runs the market) convinced me to be official and get a 10x10 space (before I just had an 8ft space with a sunbrella. I wasn't sure I wanted to do all the extra work of putting up a canopy and bringing in MORE tables and so on, but I knew my product line was going to be growing and I took the challenge. Thank you Raquel for the push.

Wow, can you believe that it is Thursday already? Where did time go? With B going back to school full time and running a business, he seems to be overly stressed and crabby lately. I have to remember not to take it personal. Today he got home at 3pm and walked into the house and said, "Wow, it looks like a sweatshop in here". I could take it to mean that he is impressed by all the work that I have been doing or it could mean that he is not impressed with how his house looks. But it is Thankful Thursday and I am thankful for having him in my life.

The Hubby started school today and I have the house all to myself. I had plans to go to the gym and clean my scraproom, make dinner and this and that. Unfortunately, it did not end up working out that way for me. I spent most of the afternoon at the fabric store and I rushed home to finish designing and cutting the bibs. Thankfully tomorrow I will get another chance at making it to the gym and clearing out the scraproom.

Some days I wake up and the sun is shinning bright through my window, my husband calls me to wish me a happy day, but today was not one of those beautiful mornings. I woke up late, my alarm did not go off. I am very low in merchandize and I cannot get any more until the spring line comes out in February or March. A Note from Team Sweet Marie… “Team Sweet Marie was started in honor and loving memory of a wonderfully dear friend, sister, daughter, wife and mother, Marie Kurpjuweit. She touched everyone who crossed her path and her smile was unforgettable! Since 2006 we have raised over $45,000 for Susan G. Komen For The Cure and walked hundreds of miles in the process! The fight is ongoing…we need to keep pushing for a cure to help the many women and men who have already been diagnosed and those who have yet to face this terrible disease. Sadly, the cure did not come soon enough for our beautiful Marie, but we know she’s an angel in heaven watching over us. Let’s make her and all that we have lost proud! Everyone deserves a lifetime…together we can make a difference!’

Girlfriends Giving Back is a group of small business owners that believe in giving back to the community by raising money and awareness through their companies. A portion of the proceeds of all boutique merchandise sales at the Backyard Fundraiser Boutique “Shop for the Cure!” will go to the Sweet Marie Team for the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.

It’s spring and from the ground up we are all thinking about spring cleaning. Some of us are actually doing it while the rest of us are procrastinating. All that decision-making of what to throw away presents the primary impediment. Besides, throwing out what we have already purchased invalidates the money we spent as well as the intent – could we have been wrong?

Maybe you don’t realize it, but all of your stuff is piling up altering your perception: the various knickknacks, the hundreds of similar photographs, the piles of magazines and mail and the layers of dust. Your space becomes uninviting (embarrassed to let people drop in) which contributes to the loneliness – “Why don’t I have more friends?” Maybe you don’t really see the person who lives with you and loves you and he or she doesn’t see you anymore because the view is obscured. Here are some reasons why de-cluttering will immediately invigorate your life and renew your relationships.

* Toss out the toxins in your life. Why do you clean out your refrigerator? You know that if you don’t periodically throw away old foods, they will spoil and release toxins like mold and bacteria. As a result, bad odors will be overwhelming and there will be no room for fresh wholesome foods which anyway would be contaminated by the spoiled food. Do you see the analogy to your own life: how physical and mental clutter can spoil your life? If you don’t get rid of what you don’t need, mental junk overwhelms your life, keeping you stuck in the past: failures, criticism and grief. There is no room for self-improvement.

* Look for a pattern to your clutter. Are there dead plants? Too many paintings on the wall? The same pants in the same color you bought last time and forgot about? Most of us keep duplicating what we already have, like dating the same type of person we have divorced or the usual repetitive arguing. What are you always buying and why? Is emotional programming the reason? Is there something about yourself you want to complete with all this stuff? Find the answer and you will change your life by doing things differently.

* Learn to be selective. If you photographed everything, would anything be special? If you like everything, then you like nothing. Designate what you treasure and release the rest. Keep making choices about what you want and don’t want. “I choose to do it” versus “I choose not to do it.” You will stop being a people-pleaser which makes you resentful while you will find some compassion and happiness for yourself. It is important to realize that you absorb the energy of the people with whom you associate, so choose good energy.

* Liberate your true identity. Realize that you accumulate things to fill an empty heart or make you feel accomplished – “Look at what I own” versus “Look at me.” If you are living amidst the nostalgia of what has happened in the past, you are not maximizing your present life. By cleaning out your stuff you can channel your energy to discover your hidden assets because nothing is in the way to confuse and distract you.

* Make room for the talent of your space to emerge. How wonderful to reorganize and create a space just for yourself to percolate ideas that go from inspiration to aspiration. You can clean up and set up even a corner of a room to contain your personal, beautiful, inspirational objects - perhaps a window with a view, to be in a wonderful state where art happens. Your creativity and productivity will soar in all areas of your life.

Now that you have worked on yourself and your mental clutter, you are ready to simplify your love life. Are there obstacles to your sensuality and sexuality? Check out your bedroom. Your bed should be the focal point of the room and not have to compete with a desk. Are there photos of the whole family on your night table when there should be photos of the two of you? Are your sheets worn? The rewards of getting rid of negative energy in the bedroom should be quite clear. Set the stage for romance.
